—Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing

Rules & Procedure
[remember: none of this is to be taken too seriously; the evening’s objective is FUN!]
- Each dueller is permitted to duel twice, each time with a different poem
- In a duel, a dueller may use only a poem written by her/himself
- Upon arrival, you will be asked, for each of your poems, to write on a slip of paper its title together with your name;
these will be placed in a “draw-box”
- Duels are set up by draw
- With the help of an applause-o-meter, a winner will be determined for each duel
- Two pre-assigned judges will determine, from all of the duels, the two overall best duellers; using whichever of the two poems each brought,
these two duellers will be invited to come up for the final, grand shoot-out
Music, Delectables, Potions
- We will do our best to provide an ambience of decoration and romantic music to encourage social mingling
- Each person is asked to contribute a plate of treats, preferably something that augments the evening’s “valentine” theme and does not require cutlery;
all treats will be placed on tables along the wall; you may like to identify your special treat with a suitably provocative name
- COOP will provide small paper plates and serviettes
- COOP will provide a selection of beverages (both alcoholic and other), free of charge;
nevertheless, a donation basket will be on hand to facilitate your generosity
- COOP will provide drink cups
