Events Calendar, 2007-2008

As an experiment, we're expanding our calendar beyond just Coop events, to include (as we receive or learn of them) brief notices of non-Coop literary or writing-related events that involve Coop members and friends.

You can check out Coop events in the list on this page. For some non-Coop events you can find more details, such as fees, deadlines, and contact information, in our emailed member newsletter, the Coop Scoop. For others, there may be a link in the online calendar below. Otherwise you'll need to seek out the sponsors directly.

MAY 2008

May 1-3, 2008: Three short plays by Coop member Donald B. Campbell will be part of An Evening of Short Comedies. Earlier versions of Born to Shop! and The High Road were successful, the first at Saskatoon's Fringe Theatre Festival in 1990 and the second at Regina's Globe Theatre in 2003. This is the premiere production of Perfect For Dancing. Donald will act in the evening's fourth play, The Actor's Nightmare by Christopher Durang. 8:00 p.m., Christ Church Anglican, Ave. E and 28th St. W., Saskatoon. Sat. May 3: A Slew of Poets: A League of Canadian Poets fundraiser and group reading by a whole bunch of Saskatchewan and Alberta poets (some local-- Coop members, even.) 7 - 9 p.m., Amigos, 632 10th St. E.  For further information, contact Katherine Lawrence, Saskatchewan representative for the League of Canadian Poets: kalawrence@shaw.ca

Wed. May 14: Saskatoon Public Library's Writers in Progress Finale: You are invited to attend a year-end celebration of the writers, including a number of Coop members, who have worked with Terry Jordan, Saskatoon Public Library's Writer in Residence for the 2007-2008 year. Join him, and them, for an evening of fun, friendship and wonderful writing. The Gallery, Frances Morrison Library, 7:00 p.m.

Thur. May 22: Writers' Coop Open Mike and season windup. Theme: childhood. Room 3 (lower level), Frances Morrison Library, 7:00 p.m.


APRIL 2008

Wed. Apr. 2: Join Coop members and friends Shelley Ann Leedahl, Taylor Leedahl, Lynda Monahan, Wynne Nicholson, Lia Pas, Mari-Lou Rowley, Glen Sorestad, Elyse St. George and others, at a League of Canadian Poets Group Feeding and Reading: (W)rites of Spring.

Lyric Linguini 6:00 p.m., followed by readings at 7:30 p.m.
